Motorcyclists

If you’re a biker, you will have experienced the enjoyment and freedom that comes with riding a motorbike, especially on the many country roads that we have across Herefordshire, Shropshire Warwickshire and West Mercia.

However, the unfortunate reality is that bikers are heavily over-represented in road collisions. Although motorcyclists and moped users make up only 2% of all road traffic, they are involved in around 30% of all collisions where somebody is killed or seriously injured.

The Safer Roads Partnership works with local partners and motorcycling groups to try and reduce the number of motorcyclists killed and injured in collisions. As well as supporting the national Think Bike campaign, the partnership identifies key motorcycle collision routes across West Mercia and uses ‘Think Bike’ signage to raise awareness among general motorists as well as bikers.

The partnership also offers subsidised training to moped users and motorcyclists as part of the ‘Take Control’ scheme. For more information about Take Control, visit http://www.rmtnet.co.uk/take-control
