The Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia enforces speed limits in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The majority of speed enforcement sites in West Mercia are what are known as ‘core sites’ where there is a history of road traffic collisions and casualties. Speed enforcement takes place at these sites with the aim of reducing casualties.

The remaining speed enforcement sites are part of the Community Concern Programme where there is high level of concern from the local community combined with a demonstrated speeding issue. Speed enforcement takes place at these sites to reduce speeds and improve road safety in response to specific concerns raised by local people.

Sites can be ‘static’ or ‘fixed’ where there is a permanent speed camera or ‘mobile’ where a speed camera van, motorbike or portable unit can operate from.
